Our history
In 1976, brothers Bruno and Laurier St-Onge founded Metropolitain Rustproofing. Success was immediate. The company quickly expanded across Quebec, opening multiple locations and earning the trust of thousands of customers. Over the years, a new generation has taken over, ensuring the company’s continued growth and long-term stability.
Driven by a culture of innovation, Metropolitain Rustproofing continuously improves its products in collaboration with scientific partners. The company has also adapted its services to meet modern needs by offering rustproofing treatments for hybrid and electric vehicles, in addition to gasoline-powered vehicles. More than 200 dedicated employees contribute every day to the company’s evolution, maintaining the same commitment to excellence.

From yesterday…
The story of Antirouille Métropolitain began in 1975, when Ovide St-Onge, a retired mechanic from Saint-Louis-de-France near Trois-Rivières, decided to find a solution to the rust attacking vehicles. Using his many years of experience in the automotive industry, he developed a mineral oil-based rustproofing treatment and built the first treatment ramp in his garage.
As demand quickly grew, his sons Bruno and Laurier St-Onge joined him. In 1976, they officially founded Antirouille Métropolitain. During the very first season, more than 1,300 vehicles were treated in the small family garage.
The company continued to expand with the opening of a second location in Quebec City in 1981. In 1986, the product was patented, and the company partnered with the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) and the Centre de recherche industrielle du Québec to continuously improve its technology.
Over the years, the business evolved and passed on to a new generation of leadership. In 2013, a new head office was inaugurated in Trois-Rivières to support the company’s growth. In 2015, Jean-Luc St-Onge and Manuel Champoux became the owners of the company.

After now than 50 years of expertise, Antirouille Métropolitain has become a leader in rust proofing in Quebec. Today, the company operates 16 locations and protects more 225,000 vehicles every year from corrosion.
